ABOUT CHERRY CITY DERBY GIRLS

Cherry City Derby Girls is Salem, Oregon's all girl roller derby league. We are an Oregon State non-profit corporation that was founded in early 2009. Approximately 150 skaters, plus a growing base of dedicated volunteers, make up our league.

Our mission is:

  • to increase the recognition of women’s flat track roller derby as a sport while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and athleticism among our members, and a sense of family among our organization as a whole;
  • to provide a supportive environment that nurtures female empowerment;
  • and to foster community building by participating in local fundraising, events and activities.

In July 2010, we were accepted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) as an Apprentice League.

As an Apprentice affiliate of the WFTDA, Cherry City Derby Girls joins the ranks of more than 100 all-female, skater-owned-and-operated leagues nationwide that have united to lead the growing sport of women's flat track roller derby.

WFTDA apprentice leagues are matched with veteran member leagues who guide them in the processes and requirements necessary to become a full member of the Association.  Additionally, the mentor offers advice and information related to the management and development of the apprentice league.  WFTDA Apprentice leagues are considered “pre-members” of the WFTDA and have access to many of the resources and benefits of full WFTDA membership.

We are not recruiting at this time...but keep an eye on our website for the future.
